Mesobotox
Mesobotox is a cosmetic procedure where multiple microdroplets of botulinum toxin areadministered in intradermal plane to treat fine lines and wrinkles without imparting a frozen facelike appearance.
it is an advanced skin-rejuvenation treatment where diluted micro-doses of botulinum toxin are delivered into the superficial layers of the skin. Unlike traditional Botox, it focuses on refining pores, controlling oil production, and improving overall skin texture — giving you smoother, fresher-looking skin.
Mechanism of action
With traditional Botox treatments, Botox is injected into the muscle layer.But mesobotox isn’t injected into the muscle. Rather, it’s injected into a deeper level of the skin,or dermis to-
a) action on superficial muscle fibres of facial muscles reducing fine lines and wrinkles
b) decrease in sweat and sebum production - reduction in facial pores
c) fluid retention causes relaxation of muscles guarding lymphatic channels, leading to fluid retention in the compact dermis. This effect makes the face appear luminous, and usually lasts for 3 months. The multiple needle pricks, relaxed depressor muscles, volume effect, and fibroblast contraction gives a mini “facelift” feel.
Indications -
a) facial rejuvenation-reduction in fine lines and wrinkles -(reduction in fine horizontal neck lines and “crepe like skin” of neck and expression lines of upper face and eyes) Results in mild lower facelift and mid facelift
b) reduction in facial pores
c) other – rosacea, keloids, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
Pretreatment -
a. Avoid blood thinners for about 3 to 7 days before treatment to prevent bruising. Blood thinners include ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, and vitamin E supplements.
b. Alcohol is also a blood thinner, so avoid alcoholic beverages 24 hours before treatment.
c. Clean your face as you normally would on treatment day, but don’t apply makeup. Procedure- This procedure is similar to Botox in that you’ll receive botulinum toxin injections in your skin.
Mesobotox, however, uses a microneedle and a small amount of diluted Botox (i.e higher dilution and lower concentration). The Botox is injected at 1 cm intervals, intradermally, in a uniform, grid-like fashion throughout the face or neck. The procedure is relatively fast, lasting about 30 minutes. However before procedure topical numbing cream is applied to the area to be treated.
Avoid
With Mesobotox there is no downtime with immediate results , but certain post procedure precautions include to remain upright for at least 2 hours after the procedure. Don’t lie down or bend over. Avoid physical activities like exercise for at least 24 hours after treatment. Don’t wear makeup or other facial products for at least 24 hours after treatment. Don’t take ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E supplements, or fish oil for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Other to know
Side effects include – mild swelling, redness or bruising which reduces in few days.
Mesobotox treatments aren’t permanent. Skin will gradually return to normal after 3 to 6 months, at which point repeat treatments are needed if desired.
Microdroplet technique is a simple, relatively safe, and effective treatment used for facial and neck rejuvenation. It’s “natural looking” results makes it a desirable option.
